Tunis — A body in an advanced state of decomposition had been recovered by National Guard units in collaboration with Civil Protection officers on Sunday afternoon on the beach of Cap Zebib in the Ras Jebel delegation in Bizerte, a security source informed TAP.

Spotted by a fisherman who alerted the authorities, the body, according to the preliminary investigations, belongs to a 30-year-old North African man, who sank in the sea during an irregular migration attempt, the same source indicated.

The body was taken to the Charles Nicolle hospital in Tunis for autopsy, he added.

The joint security units of the Bizerte Sea Guard and municipal, regional and local authorities had recovered during the last two weeks 9 decomposing bodies of young North Africans on the beaches of Bizerte.
