A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Ambassador Chibuike Ukauwa has criticized the recent visit of the National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus to Abia State.
Secondus was in Abia on the invitation of Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to commission and inspect completed and ongoing projects embarked upon by the state government.
However, Ukauwa said the visit was to inspect poverty and hunger in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Thursday, Ukauwa called for the outright rejection of Ikpeazu in 2019 poll, describing the governor as one that lacked ideas of governance.
According to the APC chieftain, Ikpeazu had failed to live up to the expectations of Abians.
He stressed that the governor cannot point at any tangible project on ground as achievement.
His words, “I wonder how a governor that have failed to bring democracy dividends to Abians would invite the National chairman of his party to commission what he termed as projects.
“To be honest, there are no projects to be commissioned. All this was to curry favour from suffering Abia masses for his second term bid. Secondus, what did he came to the state to commission? He was in Abia to inspect and commission poverty, hunger and hardship inflicted on the masses by Ikpeazu led government.
“As far as the state is concerned, the governor lacked idea of governance. Imagine the taxpayers monies he wasted to fly Secondus from Abuja to Umuahia just for the national chairman of his party to inspect fake projects”.
He warned the governor to refrain from deceiving Abia masses with cosmetic projects, and expressed regret over the inability of the state government to revive ailed state infrastructures that could have boosted the Abia revenue and also engage the youths to be self reliant.
“The state own infrastructural amenities are in dipladated state. The government has shown insensitivity to find ways to collaborate with private sector to revamp the ailed state owned projects initiated by successive governments in the state.
“This moribund projects if resuscitated, would engage thousands of Abia youths to be self reliant”, he said.
The governorship aspirant vowed that APC will form next government in Abia come 2019, appealing to all APC stakeholders in the state to close ranks and work for the victory of the party in 2019 election.
But in a swift reaction, Don Ubani, the publicity secretary of the PDP in the state dismissed ukauwa as a ranting political neophyte seeking relevance by attacking the person of the governor.
He said he would not be given relevance he was seeking for, describing him as a noise-maker.
