Adams rule Breakthrough Academy sports

Mobolaji Adams House (Pink) on Tuesday got 26 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze to  win  the 2018 Inter-house Sports competition of Breakthrough Academy, Akute, Ogun State, at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Segun Fatuyi House (Yellow) came second with 13 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze while  Tayo Ajayi House (Blue) finished third with 13 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze. Abiodun Olanrewaju House (Green) placed fourth with 12 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze.

The pupils competed in march past, 50m, 75m, 100m, 200m, 400m, relay races, 100m hurdles, lime and spoon, chess, scrabble, football and shot put.

Yellow won the march past with 70 points while Blue took second with 64 points. Green and Pink were third and fourth with 62 and 60 points respectively.

The events were competed for by the pupils of the nursery, primary and secondary arms of the school.

Principal of the school Olufunmilayo Akanni said, “Sport is very important to the overall educational development of any child, that is why Breakthrough Academy has placed a premium on it to ensure the physical and mental well-being of the pupils.

“Apart from ensuring that they are physically fit to learn and mentally alert for classroom work, sport teaches pupils a lot of life values. For instance, winning and losing at this competition will help to instil the culture of dealing with success and failure in the pupils.”
