Darren Donaghey, who appeared on Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s show This Morning to discuss the controversial competition, won a honeymoon as part of a Metro Radio contest – in which listeners voted for couples who they thought were most mismatched in looks.

But following the ‘Punching Above Your Weight’ contest, it turns out it isn’t the only thing the 33-year-old won in recent years.

It’s now been revealed that Darren and his beautiful now-wife Kate, 28, have bagged £1 million after a Lotto scratchcard win.

The happy couple, who share two children together, have now become millionaires after nabbing the winning Monopoly card in Newcastle – after Darren picked it up when the pair needed an emergency carton of milk.

“We still cannot believe this has happened to ordinary people like Kate and myself.

“This money will just totally change our lives and the lives of our children too.”

Their children, who are both non-verbal, will now have a sensory room in the family’s new home – after they sold their two-bedroom home in Newcastle.

Devoted dad Darren added: “We are currently in a two bedroom house and desperately need more room for the children – now all of our dreams have come true with this win.

“We can move to a new home, which is bigger and with more bedrooms and even create a sensory room for our daughter and son.”

They also intend to support autism charities, who have helped them with raising their children.
