Retired athlete Victoria Pendleton has confirmed that she and husband Scott Gardener have split.
Victoria, who won gold for Team GB in the women’s sprint final in 2008, issued a statement explaining that they had “grown apart”.
Writing to her 289,000 followers, the 37-year-old said: “After 10 years together I am very sad to say that Scott and I have grown apart, despite our best efforts in trying to make our marriage work, we have come to the decision to go our separate ways.
“It has been an extremely difficult time and a tough decision to make.”
In a follow up post, the former Strictly Come Dancing star added: “We want to look ahead to the future and stay positive.
“We would both gratefully appreciate our privacy being respected as we navigate what is a deeply personal time for us.”

Victoria married the sports scientist back in September 2013 at Colshaw Hall in Cheshire.
The couple originally met during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, when Scott was working on the Team GB’s cycling coaching team.
Victoria has spoken in the past about how their relationship had caused friction between her and other team members and led to Scott being let go.
Fans were quick to send their love and support on the micro-blogging site, with one writing: “Very sad time for you both, but brave to come to the decision.”
Echoing the sentiment, a second said: “A break up is very sad but usually done for the right reason. Best wishes to you both.”
While a third added: “Sadly sometimes relationships run their course and it might not be anybody’s fault. Wish you both all the best for the future.”
