The hotel giant today announced plans to pump an eye-watering £240million into the budget brand, generating 550 new jobs across Britain.
The massive expansion project will see more than 1,900 plush new rooms rolled out, bringing the Travelodge network to an impressive 578 hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
In addition, the company is investing in 400 swanky SuperRooms in hotels including Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and York, bringing the total of premium suits to 1,400 in a boost that shakes off Brexit angst.
Peter Gowers, Travelodge Chief Executive, said: “Today’s announcement demonstrates Travelodge’s continued investment in the UK. “Despite the uncertainty caused by Brexit and economic pressures, the UK budget hotel market remains attractive, and we are extending our network to put us where our customers want to be, while creating hundreds of new jobs across the country.”
Over the past five years, Travelodge opened 78 new hotels with an investment of £600million that created more than 2,000 new jobs.
The hotelier also ploughed £100million into a modernisation programme that saw the launch of SuperRooms, upgrading of food and beverage offerings and the improvement of its digital platforms.
The second stage of their investment scheme follows their biggest ever build to date, the London City Travelodge, a 395-room with an on-site restaurant a stone’s throw from the Gherkin.
Acton, Dagenham and the Port of Dover are just a handful of other key business locations where Travelodge is opening a new hotel this year.
