Tornadoes get new management

Ahead of the new Nigeria Premier League season, a new nine-man management committee has been appointed for Niger Tornadoes by the Niger State government.

In a statement on Friday, Baba Sheshi, the Director of Sports in the Niger State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, confirmed the dissolution of the former management team.

According to Sheshi, the new management of the club will be headed by Abubakar Gawu (Chairman) while Bello Auta will serve as the Vice-Chairman. The Club’s Secretary Aliyu Muazu retained his post under the new management.

Also, Awwal Idris and Usman Alfa were returned as the Team’s Manager and Welfare Officer respectively. Usman Mohammed was named the club’s adviser.

Sani Balarabe was named the Marketing Officer while Abdullahi Likita will be the Liaison Officer of the club and Abdullahi Dangana replaces George Daniya as the club’s spokesman.

Gawu and his team, who have been inaugurated in Minna, took over the affairs of the club with immediate effect ahead of the new campaign. They were charged with leading the club to a continental finish in the 2017/18 season.

The coach Abubakar Bala side, who finished as Federation Cup runners-up after they finished 11th in the league, begin their new season against Kwara United at the Kwara Township Stadium, Ilorin on January 14, 2018.
