Chico Slimani will head back to work just eight days after suffering from a near fatal stroke while driving.

The X Factor star was rushed to hospital on Friday 21 September after his wife noticed signs of the deadly condition.

However, he will be attending a charity event on Saturday evening.

Chico’s representative confirmed to OK! Online: “Chico is adamant he will be attending but obviously won’t be performing as planned originally.”

Chico will attend the event in Manchester which has been organised in conjunction with his own foundation, Block Fit.

Block Fit aim to raise money for The James Bulger Memorial Trust, Rainbow Child Foundation and Balls To Cancer at the event.

Coleen Nolan’s son Shane will perform at the event while Bobby Davro hosts. OK! Online columnist, Hollyoaks star Ross Adams is also believed to be in attendance.

The news of Chico’s return to work comes after his family announced that the It’s Chico Time hitmaker is recovering well.

Writing to his fans on Twitter, a statement reads: “Chico is feeling extremely lucky and feeling grateful for leading such a healthy lifestyle and thankful to his fitness that has definately helped save his life.

“His doctor said his body has recovered so Incredibly well , despite having a full blown stroke cause by a cerebral blood clot.

“The doctor has said he can only put it down to his fitness levels and positive mental attitude.

“Chico is under the wonderful hands and care of the medical team…and cannot thank the doctors and team enough for the amazing work and speed of treatment and tests,” the update ends.
