Kevin and Karen Clifton are said to be “at war” ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing launch show.
The sixteenth series of the hit BBC show kicks off on Saturday night, with both Karen and Kevin competing.
Kevin, 35, is paired with television presenter Stacey Dooley, 31, while his estranged wife Karen, 36, will take to the dance floor with 45 year old Casualty actor Charles Venn.
Despite announcing their split after three years of marriage in March, the pair put on a united front as they toured the UK together this summer.
However, an insider has now revealed that the pair “totally blank each other” when they cross paths backstage.
The source told Daily Mail: “The war of the Cliftons is still raging, they totally blank each other backstage.
“Karen is now being terribly nice to all the crew, far more so than she was before.
“The theory seems to be that she would like to get back together with Kevin, but there is no chance at all on that, he’s done.”
The publication also hints that Karen keeping the pair’s dog, Betty, is “causing conflict” between the pair, although Karen claims that it is their love of the rescue pup that has helped them stay friends.
Speaking to Dogs Today, Karen explained: “Betty (and dance) has been the glue that has helped us get through this as friends…
“It’s been a hard time for both of us and while Kevin and I are no longer together romantically, he still wants to come home to hug Betty.
“She’s been the catalyst to remind us how much we still care about each other.”
