Seann Walsh and Katya Jones appeared on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two on Wednesday evening, for their first interview since their kissing scandal.
Last week the pair, who were both in relationships at the time, were pictured kissing in the street from a night out in London, leading to Seann’s five-year girlfriend Rebecca Humphries ending their relationship with a scathing statement – claiming he was “controlling, inappropriate and hurtful”.
When on It Takes Two, Seann apologised again for what happened – saying: “I feel it is important for me to say that the people that know and love me know I’m not the person I’m being portrayed as. I’m still sorry for what I did – but it’s very important for me to get that out there.”
While Rebecca is yet to say anything about his words, she has reacted online to what he said – by liking a series of Tweets on her 28,000 strong feed.
One of the posts Rebecca liked read: “Yet again he was trying to pass the blame and defend himself instead of claiming ownership! Making digs at her until the very end.”
Another liked message read: “Seann Walsh could have manned up & apologised directly to @Beckshumps like a gent on #StrictlyITT but nooooo it’s too beneath him & apparently he’s not that kind of person. . . as the photos show him on a wild night out kissing Katya on his girlfriend’s birthday #bigego #Strictly.”
Another addressed the fact that neither Seann nor Katya publicly apologised directly to Rebecca, adding: “@bbcstrictly @Mrs_katjones saying her and Neil all right. Oh that’s ok then Still no apology to @Beckshumps Hope they get sent home on Saturday, the pair of snakes.”
A fourth liked post read: “Neither @seannwalsh or @Mrs_katjones apologised directly to @Beckshumps for their behaviour. They just sat there talking about themselves. How unsurprising. Not ok.”
Seann had also said on the show, hosted by Zoe Ball: “First of all, I would rather not be having to address this publicly but I feel like I have to.
“I made mistake which I am very sorry for. You never think about the extent of the damage you cause when you make a mistake.”
Alluding to his ex, he continued: “I’m not perfect, far from it, our relationship wasn’t perfect, this doesn’t mean I wanted it to end the way that it ended.”
Taking to Twitter earlier this week, Rebecca told her social media followers: “It’s incredibly good of Seann and Katya to apologise in the media. I have received nothing, other than the support of my family, friends, and a host of strangers on the internet who all wanted to make sure I was OK.
“What I have also kindly received are many offers to sell my side of the story, but I would prefer for it to be on my own terms. I was alone at home when Seann texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink.
“We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on.”
She ended her statement with: “I hope he gets what he wants from this. I’m not sorry I took the cat.”
