Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole appeared on Lorraine where he told the host that his time on the BBC dancing show had come to an end.
Explaining the reason for his departure, Brendan said: “It’s quite hard to talk about. The BBC haven’t renewed my contract. We get contacted year upon year and they’ve just made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. I’m in a little bit of shock at the moment.”
The shock departure of the show stalwart has left loyal viewers in shock, with many calling for the dancer to be reinstated.
One devastated fan wrote on Facebook: “Seen his interview with Lorraine, clear to be seen he was upset about this decision. Think BBC making a big mistake here, yes he may talk back a bit to the judges, but he’s an amazing dancer, and a big asset to the show. Disappointed for him #TEAMBRENDAN.”
Another follower wrote: “Big big mistake!!! Lets get a petition going to keep him at Strictly!!!!”
A third person said: “This is so wrong love how he sticks up for the dancers. He was one of the best dancers on the show”, while another commented: “Well I won’t be watching any more heartbroken.”

Questioning how Brendan found out about that he wouldn’t be back on the show, Lorraine asked: “Did you get a phone call?”
“It was done via a process of a phone call,” he responded.
Despite being visibly upset by the decision, Brendan insisted that he had really enjoyed his time on the show.
“I have had 15 incredible series on the show. I’m very proud of the whole show and it’s a great team.
“I’m disappointed and it’s really hard to talk about. It’s a recent decision. I’ve always known this day would come but to actually get here to the point and go ok the BBC have…They make the decisions year upon year.”
While Brendan didn’t go into detail about the reason behind the BBC’s decision to let him go, he did hint that it could have had something to do with how outspoken he was during the last series.
“Well it’s an editorial decision. I’m sure I’ll never know the ins and outs of it but I’m a very strong character within the show and I have my views and I love that side of it. I like being a character on the show.
“They look at the show every year and I’ve never been contracted for more than one year. I’ve been incredibly lucky. I’ve had 15 incredible years and not many people can say that.”
