French news agency AFP have cited legal sources, stating Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law David Matthews, 73, has been ‘charged with the rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim’.
David Matthews is alleged to have carried out the attack between 1998 and 1999, while on holiday in France.
It has been reported that he was in custody in Paris on Friday, accused of the rape of a minor.
Matthews is said to have reported to the judges in the French capital on Tuesday.
David is the father of James Matthews, who is married to Pippa Middleton, and Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews.
The rape case is being dealt with by the Juvenile Protection Brigade (BPM) of the Paris judicial police.
David denies the charges.
David himself is a multimillionaire businessman, who began his professional career as a garage mechanic.
He last year was pictured attending the wedding of Pippa Middleton and his son James alongside his family.
