The Sky Sports presenter shared the tragic news that his wife – aged 40 – had died just three days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.
Gemma leaves behind their young son, eight-year-old Ethan, whom Simon Thomas asked fans “to pray for” after his wife died.
Now, Simon has broken his silence two weeks after her tragic passing with a tear-jerking message to everyone wishing him and his son well.
Two weeks on since she went. I have only been able to read a fraction of the incredible outpouring of love and support for us on here in the painful days that followed. One day, with my boy, we will read them. For now, all I can say from the depths of my heart, is thank you. ❤️

He posted on Twitter: “Today I am crushed with indescribable pain.
“Just three days after falling ill with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, my dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends.
“If you are a prayer – pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits. Thank you.”
Acute myeloid leukaemia is a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow.
Simon told The Mirror that Gemma felt ill last week and visited her GP where she was advised to rest.
“She felt very unwell last weekend and we took her to the doctor’s three times, but three times they didn’t seem concerned,” he said.
The 44 year old said that she started chemotherapy on the Tuesday night, and although she initially responded well, her condition quickly worsened and she died just days later surrounded by family and friends.
