The music mogul sparked concern when he was rushed to hospital on Friday morning after falling down the stairs.
Following the health scare, Simon Cowell was forced to pull out of the first live X Factor show of the series.
And now, fans have shared their horror after one Scottish comedian took to Twitter to claim Cheryl’s pal had DIED following his injuries.
Comedian Brian Limond – also known as “Limmy” – made up a string of “breaking news” Tweets from reputable sources, writing: “Simon Cowell is dead” across them to his 342k followers.
He then posted another message which simply read: “Simon is dead. #XFactor.”
And fans shared their fury at the comedy star for his “insensitive” posts online, with one fan exclaiming: “No he isn’t. You should be ashamed to report something like this when its fake.”

“@SimonCowell wont be too happy about your tweets saying he is dead etc…” another wrote, while a third added: “Christ, mate. You need to delete your tweet.”
Simon Cowell had to undergo a series of important medical tests at hospital – including a CT scan on his brain and MRI scans on his spine, neck and back.
Simon has since returned home to his West London pad, where he gave a thumbs up to waiting photographers and said: “I fainted and fell down the stairs. I’ve got a bit of concussion. I feel better now.”
During Saturday’s show. host Dermot O’Leary addressed Simon’s absence.
He said: “You might have spotted one judge is missing. That’s because as you may have heard Simon was taken to hospital yesterday but he is doing fine, he’s at home now watching the show.
“But we do wanna say get well soon boss and hope to see you fighting fit very soon. So let’s say hello to our remaining X Factor judges.”
