Royal FC of Ikoyi in Osun State have emerged as champions of the Ayedaade-Irewole-Isokan Federal Constituency Football Competition sponsored by a House of Representatives member Ayo Omidiran at Ayedaade High School, Ikire.
To win the tournament, Royal defeated Glamour FC of Ikire 1-0.
The final attracted top politicians and Osun Football Association chairman Taiwo Ogunjobi.
While presenting the trophy to the champions, Omidiran, who represents Ayedaade-Irewole-Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said the competition was aimed at reducing youth restiveness in the area.
While expressing her delight at the display of maturity by the teams, the officials, the organising committee as well as the fans throughout the period the tournament lasted, Omidiran promised to do more in terms of raising the standard of the tournament in the next edition.
“This is not a new thing. I always want to give back to the society and also love to engage youths through sports. I am really excited,” she said.
Cash and gifts items were presented to the teams in the first, second, third and fourth positions respectively, best behaved team, the most valuable player and official, as well as the highest goals scorer of the tournament.
