Celebrity Big Brother star Roxanne Pallett has broken her silence after sensationally quitting the show earlier today.
In a statement released today, a spokesperson for the star said: “Roxanne decided to leave the CBB house late last night after deliberating for two days with some sensitive issues she felt strongly about.
“She has now been reunited with her fiancé and family and thanks everyone for their support during her time in the show.”
Earlier today, a CBB spokesperson confirmed news she had quit in a statement that read: “Roxanne has decided to leave the BB House.
“The remaining housemates have been informed.”
The actress was subject to thousands of complaints from Channel 5 viewers after she accused former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas of punching her “like a boxer would punch a bag.”
After Big Brother gave Ryan a formal warning, CBB fans – and celebrity pals – took to social media to slam the former Emmerdale star, even signing petitions to remove her from the house.
Ryan’s girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh furiously hit back on social media claiming Roxanne should be removed from the Channel 5 show.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star did not hold back, asking fans to rally around him for support, while launching a petition to get her removed.
Since, many others have had their say about the incident, with Corrie actor Daniel Brocklebank posting on Twitter: “Finally the general public are privy to what those of us that were unfortunate enough to work with her in the past already knew.”
While Sam Attwater claimed that she had lied about him hitting her too.
“I can not wait for @bbuk tonight. Im so glad that Roxanne’s true personality is coming out,” he wrote.
“She did this to me on Rocky Horror tour. Except she hit me and ran off stage saying I’d hit her! She’s not well and shouldn’t be in there. Anyone who has worked with her knows.#dangerous.”
Meanwhile, Women’s Aid have defended her actions, saying: “Domestic abuse means you don’t feel safe in your home environment, and as a woman who has previously spoken about being in a violent and abusive relationship, Roxanne clearly did not feel comfortable going to sleep in the same room as someone who had physically hurt her, even if that was not his intention.”
