According to TMZ, David Cassidy, 67, is in an induced coma in a critical condition.
After being rushed to hospital in Florida earlier this week, the Partridge Family star has been suffering from organ failure.
The publication claims he “needs a liver transplant soon or he could die”.
They also claim the seventies idol is suffering from kidney failure.
His family are now said to be at the hospital to be by his side as his condition worsens.
Doctors have apparently told his relatives to “prepare for the worst”.
Earlier this year, David revealed his battle with dementia.
“I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming,” the 67 year old told People. “I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I’ve been without any distractions. I want to love. I want to enjoy life.”
The Daydreamer singer had previously watched his grandfather battle the disease, before watching his mother “disappear” into dementia before her death.
“In the end, the only way I knew she recognised me is with one single tear that would drop from her eye every time I walked into the room,” the The Partridge Family star remembered.
“I feared I would end up that way.”
After his own diagnosis, the performer made the decision to stop touring as a musician so that he could concentrate on his health.
