Grease legend Olivia Newton-John revealed that she is battling cancer for the third time, years after secretly overcoming the illness.
But the 69-year-old Xanadu star hasn’t let the diagnosis get her down – as she was spotted beaming alongside pals at the annual Wellness Walk in Australia, to raise both awareness and money for cancer research.
Olivia couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she stood alongside many others adorned in the official green uniform for the heartwarming event, even giving a speech to the crowds – before doing a small dance shortly afterwards.
She was then spotted walking alongside her friends in a march to raise awareness, looking in incredibly high spirits after confirming she was all set to battle the disease again.
Speaking on Australian TV’s Sunday Night, Olivia opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis. She said: “My husband’s always there, and he’s always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it and that’s my goal.”
Olivia confessed that she has cut sugar out of her diet following the news, and is using homegrown cannabis alongside common medicines to tackle the disease.
She added: “I’m so lucky. I’m married to an amazing man who is a plant medicine expert.”
Olivia was first diagnosed with the disease in 1992, and then fought it again in 2013 – keeping it a secret from fans.
Discussing her decision to keep the diagnosis quiet at the time, Olivia said “it’s my life,” and claimed she didn’t want to reveal intimate details about her health.
Thanking fans for their support following her most recent diagnosis, she added: “Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who sent such kind and loving messages of support over the past few months.
“Your prayers and well wishes have truly helped me and continue to lift my spirits.”
While Olivia most famously played Sandy in Grease, she has since released many number one hit singles and toured internationally.
