X Factor champion Matt Terry has exclusively opened up about his pop-star image after he was attacked by body-shaming trolls following his triumphant return to Simon Cowell’s talent show on Sunday (19 November 2017).
The 24-year-old singer was high on life after an epic performance of his new single, The Thing About Love, ahead of the release of his album Trouble on Friday (24 Nov 2017), but cruel “keyboard warriors” bombarded him with comments about his physique.
In a spontaneous move, he posted an inspiring video dressed in the shirt he wore the night before and his boxers, and hit back at those who made cruel remarks.
However, the chart topper went on to say that he has accepted he’ll always look different to fellow X Factor stars One Direction, admitting he is twice the size of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan because of his muscly shape and “shoulders”.
Speaking to OK! Online on Monday (20 November 2017) Matt said: “When you think about pop stars, you think about boybands everyone’s always quite skinny – and there’s nothing wrong with that – I mean look at all the One D (Direction) boys. Me next to them.
“So probably I’m like two of them put together do you know what I mean? I’m not complaining, I’m so happy with how I am,” he told us.

“So do you know what? I’m putting it down to the song was so good they had to bash me another way.
He added: “Do you know what, there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. I’m normal, I’m just built, I’ve got shoulders, I’ve got legs, I’ve got a Kardashian ‘a**e’. That is just me, I’m normal, I’m healthy, and I’m putting that down to, people love to find the negatives.”
To his 388k followers, Matt shared a clip of himself wearing the same shirt as he wore on his The X Factor appearance, while confidently spinning on the spot before sticking his tongue out at the camera.
Explaining why he stood up for himself, the singer – who loves to run to keep fit – said: “I woke up, I was staying at my mates house, and I was like, do you know what, I’m going to put my shirt straight back on and I’m going to show them there’s nothing wrong with me. I took a video on a normal camera, normal daylight.
“I was just like, ‘I’m not having it.’ I was on such a high (after the show). I’m not going to let them get me down.
“I love eating healthy, my thing is I just love to run and it clears my mind. So it’s nice to just put your phone down, turn off your social media, no managers, nothing, just do your thing, go for a run. It makes me feel good.”
