He was set to embark on a 26-date tour across North America starting in October 27 following the release of his new album entitled Swimming.
Following his death, the rapper’s family shared a statement as fans and fellow musicians across the world paid tribute to the talented star.
It read: “Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans.
“Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Miller’s ex-girlfriend, pop star Ariana Grande, is said to be “devastated” over the tragic news of his passing. The couple dated for 21 months before splitting in May this year.
An insider told Entertainment Tonight: “Although the two ended their relationship, Ariana always shared a deep connection with Mac and wanted nothing but the best for him. Ariana is very upset.”
Another source said: “Despite their split, Ariana had always been supportive of his sobriety.”
After the pair’s split in May, Ariana took to her social media to call the rapper her best friend and express her unconditional love for him. The No Tears Left To Cry singer is now engaged to comedian Pete Davidson.
