Katie Price, 40, is thought to have been left “terrified” after a fire reportedly broke out at her £2million mansion in Sussex.
Sources say that the blaze started in her five year old son Jett Hayler’s bedroom, although the cause of the fire is not known.
It is believed that Katie’s stepdad, Paul, put the fire out without needing to call the local fire brigade.
Speaking to The Sun Online, an insider spilled: “Katie and the family were terrified the house was going to burn down.
“The fire started in Jett’s bedroom, which is on the first floor, and quickly spread throughout the room.
“Fortunately, Katie’s stepdad Paul was able to contain the blaze before it got out of control and they didn’t have to call the fire brigade.
“She’s trying to sell the house at the moment so it’s really bad news for Katie. It’s going to cost her a fortune to repair.
“The hallway and the bedroom have been blackened by smoke and it’s a big clean-up operation.
“Nobody knows how it started but if Paul hadn’t been visiting at the time with Katie’s mum Amy, the whole house could have burnt to the ground.”
The blaze comes as Katie is reportedly trying to flog the house, which is said to cost £10,000 a month to maintain.
A source told Daily Star Sunday: “Katie’s having to sell her home to recover money. I don’t know how much change she’ll see from the sale… as there’s charges on it, plus tax owed.”
The mansion cost Katie a staggering £1.3 million when she purchased it in 2014. It is believed she took out a second mortgage for the property two years ago.
