Rachel, who plays Lisa Loveday in the Channel 4 soap, had a difficult birth. She suffered from pre-eclampsia, which meant her blood pressure was quite high resulting in her being induced quickly.
“The pain completely goes from zero to a hundred in about a minute,” she said. “Because her heart rate kept dropping as my blood pressure kept increasing, they said they needed to get her out as soon as possible.
“The hospital were so phenomenal. They were so calm. Because of the diamorphine, I was so tired and I wasn’t pushing hard enough. So they had to give me an episiotomy and use a ventouse suction cup.”

“You’ve made this amazing human and you want the best for them, so you will cry and you might feel a bit sad but it’s okay, because it will eventually go.
“I think if you don’t talk about it, that’s what could lead to postnatal depression.”
