Hollyoaks actress Kelle Bryan has revealed that she had to relearn how to talk and walk from scratch after suffering a stroke.
The Eternal singer was forced to pull out of a role on the Channel 4 soap after she suffered the stroke in April 2016.
The stroke was triggered by an infection she contracted while in hospital for a routine operation.
The actress, who suffers autoimmune disease lupus, was left unable to speak, talk or even spell following the horror stroke.
Speaking about the ordeal two years later to The Sun, Kelle said: “I had an infection and then a stroke and everything else all in the one year.
“With Lupus, the disease caused swelling on my brain. And because it was on my brain everything shut down, as it would with any kind of brain damage.
“I lost my speech, I couldn’t speak or walk. I lost it all. All the neurological things, so walking, talking, even things like reading and writing, I couldn’t write my own name, I couldn’t even text.”
“Even spelling was a challenge, I had to relearn all of that again. And because it’s neurological my eyesight wasn’t very good so everything appeared blurred.
“So that’s why this is such a celebration for me.”
Kelle will be taking up the role of Lisa Loveday’s sister Martine on the soap, who is an air hostess set to arrive in the village later this month and drop a huge bombshell.
“Getting a new job is great and landing a new role is amazing, but because of my journey and what I’ve been through, just to be here two years later is like [screams with joy].”
“It’s crazy, it’s absolutely crazy,” she added.
