Hip hop star and former music attorney Combat Jack has died after a short illness aged 48.
Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg confirmed his death, tweeting, “Hip Hop has lost one of its most important historians and voices… we had serious ups and downs but I was so happy we had made things good… Rest In Peace to my friend Combat Jack….”
And the musical pioneer – real name Reggoe Osse – disclosed online that he had colon cancer just two months ago.
Taking to Twitter, he told his followers: “Internets, what’s up? It’s your man Combat Jack. In 7 years of podcasting.
“I’ve never missed an episode. I got hit with some real life s***.
“I was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer. I was rushed to the hospital, had some pretty severe surgery.

“Take care of your health. Your boy ain’t going nowhere though.
“We’re gonna keep doing this. Keep rocking with us. #RaiseTheBar #Combatcancer Let’s Go!”
But he tried to assuage the fears of his fans by telling them that he was “on the mend”.
“I’m about to jump on this journey to health with chemo and alternative medicine.”
Osse – a former managing editor of The Source magazine – sent his last tweet on December 18 and shared a thread by another cancer sufferer with the hashtag, #combatcancer.
