Heart attacks are a serious medical emergency, and should be treated immediately, according to the NHS.
A heart attack is caused by a lack of blood reaching the heart.
Without enough blood, the heart may become seriously damaged, and it may be life-threatening.
The condition, which is also known as a myocardial infarction, is a symptoms of coronary heart disease – a condition that’s caused by a blockage in the heart’s blood supply.
You could be more at risk of both heart disease and heart attacks by eating soybean oils, it’s been revealed.
The cause of heart disease is inflammation, claimed nutritionist Dr Josh Axe.
Avoiding inflammatory foods could lower your risk of the deadly condition, he said.
Soybean oils promote inflammation in the body, and could therefore be contributing to your risk of both heart disease and heart attacks, the nutritionist added.
“By reducing inflammation, the root of most diseases, you place your body in a state that is conducive to healing,” the nutritionist said.
“Many whole foods that are available in common grocery stores can help reverse coronary heart disease and lower your risk for developing various forms of cardiovascular disorders.
“In the majority of people, the real cause of heart disease is inflammation.
“Foods that promote inflammation include corn and soybean oils, pasteurised, conventional dairy, and refined carbohydrates.”
Soybean oil is reasonably high in omega-6 fatty acids, which could contribute to inflammation, he said.
But, you can lower your risk of heart attacks by eating anti-inflammatory foods.
The best foods for preventing the condition are fruits, vegetables, turmeric, nuts, wild-caught fish and red wine in moderation.
You could also lower your risk of a myocardial infarction by giving up smoking, if you’re a smoker.
If you’re obese or overweight, losing a few pounds will help to prevent heart disease, the NHS said.
The more weight you carry, the harder your heart has to work to pump blood around the body.
Keep your heart muscle and blood vessels in good condition by doing plenty of exercise.
Every UK adult should aim for at least 150 minutes of exercise every week.
