Ahmed Musa’s loan return to CSKA Moscow has been confirmed by the Russian club.

“CSKA and Leicester City agreed the loan of Ahmed Musa today (Tuesday) until the end of 2017-18 season,” the Russian Premier League club said on their website.

“Ahmed will be included in the Red-Blues’ squad for the national league and the Uefa Europa League knockout stage.”

The Super Eagles attacker  joined Leicester City from CSKA in a club-record £16m deal just 18 months ago but struggled to adjust to life in England.

Musa, a bit-part player in his first season, has seen his opportunities dwindle further this campaign, playing just one senior game, at Sheffield United in the second round of the Carabao Cup, a match in which he scored.

The 25-year-old now heads back to the Russian capital until the end of the season, to the club where he made his name, in the hope of earning a place in Nigeria’s World Cup squad for the tournament in Russia this summer.

Upon returning to CSKA, who sit fifth in the Russian Premier League and are in the Europa League knockout stages, Musa told the club’s official website, “I am very happy and proud to be back.

“This is truly my home, a champion team that fights for the top awards and occupies the highest places.

“I promise that I will give everything for this club in order to make CSKA champions again. I will work very hard.”

Musa is the second City player to rejoin their former club on loan in the space of two days, Leo Ulloa heading back to Brighton on Monday.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr had expressed his desire in seeing Musa move to CSKA to brighten is chances of making Nigeria’s World Cup squad.
