During the trial, Gemma told the court: “He lunged at me where I was sitting on the sofa. Put my arms up and he began to attack me with various objects in the room.

“He started throwing things at me the whole time, like my lamp, and candles. He ripped the child gate off the wall and started beating me with it.

“When the TV came at me that is when I thought I was in real trouble here and I said: ‘Please don’t leave my baby without her mum.’”

The attack took place in their Twickenham home while their child slept upstairs.

Wimbledon Magistrates Court found George guilty of assault and causing damage to their home.

He has been sentenced to 100 hours unpaid work, 40 sessions of ‘rehabilitation activity’ and must pay a total of £1,105 which includes compensation for the damage he caused in the attack.

Gemma has also put a restraining order in place, meaning that he cannot contact her at her address.

George claimed via his mitigation that he would not be able to pay court costs or compensation, citing that he is in “considerable debt” and that “his outgoings far outweigh his incomings.”

However, John Soones, chair of the bench told the Celebrity Big Brother star: “It was a sustained assault and we have some evidence of the injuries that you caused. We are going to deal with it today by way of a high level community order.”
