Geordie Shore star Sophie Kasaei has described coming face to face with a screwdriver-wielding intruder posing as a delivery man at her home.
Ryan Larson, 27, threatened to stab the star – who rose to fame on the MTV show – with the blunt tool if she didn’t give him access to her safe on 27 December 2016.
Terrified Sophie said that her life flashed before her eyes when she realised the thug’s intentions and was left bruised when she tackled him.
In a victim impact statement, brave Sophie said: “I was extremely scared by what I saw. “I thought he might stab either of us to get money. I saw my life flash before my eyes. I have never felt like that in my entire life.”
The court heard that it was Sophie’s housekeeper who opened the door and Larson bursted in, shouting: “Give me the money. Do you know who I am?”
When Sophie realised what was going on she ran into the hallway and confronted the raider.
She managed to fight him off before he fled she ran into the street screaming for help.
Mr Perks said: “Miss Kasaei at the time of the offence and ongoing is a reality television star. Quite clearly her status would have been known to this defendant.”
Larson had 28 previous convictions and was subject to a suspended jail sentence for battery at the time.
He was arrested the following day at his girlfriend’s home. Larson’s lawyer Jane Foley presented mitigation, saying he had a drug problem since he was 13 and had been ordered to carry out the raid to settle a £5,000 debt.
Judge Robert Adams said he posed a “significant risk of causing serious harm” and had not learned his lesson from previous jail sentences. “You must have terrified the two women in the premises,” he added.
Judge Adams sentenced Larson of Henderson Road in South Shields to six years and eight months in prison with a three year extended licence period.
