Diabetes type 2 is caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin, or the body not reaction properly to the hormone.
Without enough insulin, glucose in the blood isn’t converted into energy.
To get rid of the extra glucose in the body, it’s excreted in urine.
So, signs of the diabetes include passing more urine than normal. Other symptoms include fatigue, loss of muscle bulk and feeling very thirsty.
The best exercise for lowering blood sugar is cycling, it’s been revealed.
Diabetes patients should do more cycling, as it reduces pressure on feet, according to medical website Patient.info.
“Cycling, is ideal for many people with diabetes, not least because it can be easily interwoven into your day-to-day life,” it told Express.co.uk.
“One study showed that people with type 2 diabetes may be better off choosing cycling for exercise than walking, as it is associated with lower levels of pressure in the feet.”
Regular exercise will help diabetics to maintain a healthy weight, and to regulate their blood glucose levels.
It will also lower the risk of diabetes type 2-related complications.
“Regular exercise is so important for our health,” said GP and Clinical Director of Patient.info, Dr Sarah Jarvis.
“It can help you maintain a healthy weight and improve your cholesterol profile, as well as helping to reduce your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and even cancer; not to mention the positive effects on our mental health.”
Eating a healthy, balanced diet could also help to prevent diabetes, the NHS said.
Losing weight if you’re obese, and cutting back on alcohol could also lower your risk of the high blood sugar condition.
Diabetes patients are more at risk of vision loss and blindness.
It could also cause kidney failure and cardiovascular disease.
