Demi Lovato shockingly reveals she nearly DIED from drugs overdose and used to smuggle cocaine onto planes before going to rehab for her addiction

Demi Lovato released her Simply Complicated documentary this week, in which she opens up about her struggles with fame, drug addiction and eating disorders.

In the YouTube video, the former Disney star, who has now been sober for more than five years, reveals the moment she almost died from an overdose on prescription drugs.

Speaking specifically about her drug addiction, the 25 year old said: “I wasn’t working my programme, I wasn’t ready to get sober.

“I was sneaking cocaine on planes. I was sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night.

“I went on a bender of like, two months where I was using daily”, confessed the American star.

The singer and actress has given fans an honest insight into her struggles in the documentary, revealing the ways she would cheat drugs tests.

“I was using while I had a sober companion, and I went through about 20 different sober companions.

“I would sneak out and get drugs, I would fake my drug tests with other people’s pee”, she admitted.

Shockingly, Demi goes on to give a candid account of the time she almost died.

“There was one night when I used a bunch of coke and I popped a few [prescription] Xanax bars, and I began to choke a little bit.

“My heart started racing, and I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God, I might be overdosing right now.'”

The young singer admits she eventually got clean after her management team threatened to drop her, confessing: “It wasn’t a matter of if they’re going to leave, it was they’re leaving.”
