As Simone in the critically acclaimed comedy movie “Girls Trip,” British Nigerian Deborah Ayorinde was difficult to miss.

In the critically acclaimed movie, Ayorinde played an Instagram star and side chick to Stewart Pierce, husband to celebrity author, Ryan Pierce.

Born in London, Ayorinde is of Yoruba descent – she and her sisters are the first generation of her family born outside of Nigeria.

Despite her years in London and San Jose, California, where her family relocated to when she was eight, Ayorinde is very much interested in her roots.

In a 2017 interview with Essence Magazine, the actress said she is down to do a Nollywood movie.

Sharing actors she would love to work with, Ayorinde said, “I really want to work with Genevieve Nnaji.  There are a few others – Monalisa Chinda, I would love to do films with her too.”

Ayorinde graduated with honors from Howard University’s John H. Johnson School of Communications with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production.

During her matriculation, she won the Paul Robeson Best Actress award for her performance in a short film she wrote and directed.

Apart from acting, she has a hidden talent – singing. Unfortunately, she gets stage fright whenever she has to perform.
