David Beckham has admitted that his marriage to wife Victoria Beckham can be “hard work.”
The football icon, 43, has opened up on their two decade long marriage after the pair were forced to squash rumours of a divorce.
Reports circulated that he and his 44 year old Spice Girls singer wife were splitting earlier this year, which they branded “a crock of s**t.”
David has now had his say on their marriage as he took to Australian TV programme The Sunday Project.
He told host Lisa Wilkinson: “When you’ve been married for the amount of time that we have, it’s always hard work.”
The dad of five continued to admit: “It becomes a little more complicated.”
His comments come after wife Victoria broke her silence on their relationship as her and the pair’s children Brooklyn Beckham, 19, Romeo Beckham, 16, Cruz Beckham, 13, and Harper Beckham, seven, covered British Vogue.
The 2 Become 1 hitmaker told the magazine: “People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal.
“But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair.”

She continued: ”We both realise that we are stronger together than we are as individuals.
“Would either of us be in the position that we are in now had we not met and been together all those years ago?
“It’s all about the family unit. We are much stronger the six of us, than we would be if we were individuals. We respect that family bond and that is key.”
