Danielle Lloyd is already mum to sons Archie, eight, Harry, seven, and George, five, from her marriage to Jamie O’ Hara, and one year old Ronnie with fiancé Michael O ‘Neill, but has revealed she is desperate to have a little girl.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the former Celebrity Big Brother star said she hopes to begin IVF treatment so she can add a little girl to her brood, but won’t start until next summer.
“I’ve got such a good relationship with my mum, she’s my best friend and I want that with a daughter. When my four boys grow older they’ll have girlfriends, girls are different,” she said.
“We’ve got our wedding first so maybe next summer in Dubai. We’ll have to stay there for a month with the children so we’ll make it a holiday. There will be lots of drugs and injections so we’ll take our mums for some of it.
“People say: ‘Oh she just wants a little princess to dress up,’ but if I had four girls I’d do the same treatment for a boy.’”
Online trolls have criticised her decision, though, and insisted she should be “thankful for her four miracle babies.”
But Danielle explained that she “doesn’t want to get to the age of 50 and regret not trying for a girl” before admitting baby number five would be her last.
“I couldn’t cope with any more,” she said. “Although if I had loads of money I’d have 20 kids. I love having children!”
In the meantime, Danielle has teamed up with Oh Arthur to design her own children’s clothing line and has chosen to donate proceeds to mental health charity MIND.
Speaking about the collaboration, she said: “I’ve had problems with mental health and it’s so important to raise awareness.
“After I had Harry, because he was so premature. He was born at 29 weeks and was on life support. It was only when I got home that I struggled. I didn’t know what it was until I went to my doctor and I was put on antidepressants.
“When I was 21, my relationship wasn’t going well and it got so bad that I wanted to take my own life. Luckily my mum came to my rescue and got me into rehab.”
She added: “I wanted to spend every second with my children but couldn’t because I was in a depressed bubble, I wish I’d asked for help sooner. I struggled to get out of bed and I turned to alcohol to numb the pain.”
On how she’ll encourage her boys to talk about mental health, she say: “I’ve struggled with my boys because they’ve been through a lot over the last few years, but I just tell them to speak to me honestly and openly all the time.”
Explaining that mental health is “very” important to her, Danielle says: “It’s so important to raise awareness. When Sophie Gradon [from Love Island] killed herself, no one expected it because she looked so happy, that’s the problem. It’s so hard to know when someone’s depressed or struggling.”
