Cherylee Houston, who plays Izzy Armstrong in Coronation Street, took to Twitter to reveal that she was verbally abused by a man in a car while crossing the road.
Cherylee told her 38 thousand followers: “Was just crossing the road and a car beeped and me and a man shouted ‘S****ic’ at me. Wow.”
Cherylee was diagnosed with Ehlers-Dalos syndrome at the age of 23 and has used a wheelchair ever since.
The rare condition affects connective tissue and often leaves Cherylee unable to move, although she has insisted that her acting career eases her pain.
The actress’ Corrie co-stars quickly showered her with their support on Twitter after she revealed the horrifying incident.

Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, added: “Oh darling this is horrendous. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I hope you’re okay lovely one xxx.”

Cherylee’s fans also inundated her with support, leaving her to reveal that she is “stunned but fine” following the incident.
Replying to a fan she wrote: “I was trying to find the logic to explain his ridiculousness but I was just open-mouthed. And he was younger than me. Astounding that such hatred exists.”
