A member of the Super Eagles backroom staff has provided an explanation as to why coach Gernot Rohr rates Deportivo La Coruna Francis Odinaka Uzoho very high.
Report emerging from the Super Eagles camp in Russia suggests that the 19-year-old is in line for his debut when Nigeria take on Argentina in a high-profile friendly in Russia on Tuesday.
Rohr is said to be impressed with the quality of the shot-stopper.
The backroom staff told Own Goal, “He is well loved by coach Rohr due to several attributes he has seen in Uzoho which he believes modern day goalkeepers should possess if they want to go far.
“Uzoho has one thing working for him as soon as you see him. He is a big lad and Germans like their goalkeepers big, reasons why former Super Eagles coach, Berti Vogts preferred Austin Ejide to Vincent Enyeama few years ago.
“Aside his physical attribute, Uzoho is also very good at taking crosses, he commands his area very well and with all due respect to the goalkeepers we have now, Uzoho is the best in playing with his legs, something Rohr likes a lot.”
