Ant McPartlin has been advised to take at least a year away from his TV duties.
The Saturday Night Takeaway host recently entered rehab for the second time after being involved in a car crash and charged with drink driving.
An expert believes Declan Donnelly’s presenting partner needs to go off the radar for a long time to get over his issues.
“Ant needs a complete break. The showbiz side of things is really important to him – it’s his identity – but ideally he needs a year off, preferably somewhere abroad,” addiction specialist Diana Parkinson said to New magazine.
“He desperately needs genuine people around him, not people who want to know him for his fame,” she added.
Ant will reportedly still make an appearance on the show in the form of pre-recorded clips, Saturday Knight Takeaway.

A source said to The Sun: “After a lot of soul searching it was decided the final episodes should run because viewers love the series and want to find out the conclusion.”
Next weekend’s series finale will see Dec travel to Florida alone to front a special episode filmed at Universal Resort Orlando.
Recent reports have suggested that James Corden, Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis will join Dec for the star-studded episode.
Series regulars Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern are also thought to be flying over, alongside a plane-full of lucky viewers who have won tickets to the theme park.
Following a week off air, Saturday Night Takeaway returns to ITV this weekend.
