Drew Liquerman of Republicans Overseas – an organisation dedicated to increasing political engagement from American expats – argues Donald Trump has “already left a legacy that few Presidents can match”.

Speaking on Newsnight, Mr Liquerman claims Trump’s policies on immigration, foreign affairs and judicial appointments have made a great “impact”.

He said: “President Trump has already profoundly changed America for the better.

“On November 9, 2016, we awoke to a different world. No longer would the leader of the free world be someone who favoured globalisation, migration and political correctness.

“And no longer would the West be led by someone who apologised for the past. President Trump has made plenty of promises and he has kept them.

“He has appointed a true conservative to the Supreme Court and his many nominees for the US Circuit Courts will have an impact for decades to come.”

Building a border wall with Mexico was a key promise of Trump’s election campaign that shocked the world when he became President.

During his campaign, Trump said: “I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me – and I’ll build them very inexpensively.

“I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

Although the US President has faced criticism, several prototypes have been completed for the wall.

Mr Liquerman added: “Preparation has already begun for the border wall with Mexico and illegal crossings are already down by over 40 per cent.

“On immigration, Trump has begun to reform our outdated system. He has asked Congress to rewrite visa rules so that they are based on merit rather than some ‘diversity’ lottery.

“Trump’s ban on travel to the US from a number of ‘high-risk countries’ has come into effect despite fierce left-wing opposition and judicial setbacks.”

The Republicans Overseas spokesman also commended Donald Trump’s attack on globalism and his controversial decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

The decision to pull out of the Agreement was condemned worldwide.

Even North Korea attacked Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw as “short-sighted and silly” and at the cost of “the entire planet”.

But Mr Liquerman believes the decision to withdraw was correct and also to “defund other UN agencies”.

He continued: “On foreign policy, Trump has said: ‘We will no longer surrender this country or its people to the false song of globalism.’

“He has pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and Unesco, as well as defunding other UN agencies.”

The Republican commended Trump’s foreign policy, claiming other presidents “capitulated” against Iran.

He said: “America now has a president that is willing to stand up to Iran where previous administrations have capitulated.”

But, Mr Liquerman admits Trump’s “achievements” are not permanent, but it is still a massive shift in American leadership and culture.

“While most of what Trump has done so far is not permanent, we have seen a massive shift in American leadership and culture.

“And with massive tax reform, the completion of the border wall and the end of Obamacare still to come I believe that Donald Trump will leave a legacy that few presidents can match.
