Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has not listed Nigeria or any African country, as contenders to win the 2018 World Cup.

Messi, in an interview with Sport, believes one of the following six teams can win the tournament this summer in Russia.

They are: Brazil, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium and his country.

The Barcelona superstar is hoping to lift sport’s greatest trophy, as he looks to finally win a major international tournament.

Messi and his team-mates lost the 2014 final to Germany, with Mario Gotze scoring the winner in extra time.

“There are various teams going in to the tournament with confidence, playing well and with good individuals, as is the case with Brazil, Germany, Spain, France and Belgium, although the latter is not mentioned as much.

“[Argentina] have good players and the experience of the last World Cup. It will be an even competition,” Messi said.
