The Benin Club Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament has been scheduled to tee off in Benin on Sunday.
The tournament is expected to attract no fewer than 120 golfers from golf clubs in the South-South and other parts of the country.
Captain of the golf section of Benin Club Osagie Nehikhare told reporters in Benin on Thursday that the tournament was part of the yearly golf event for a new captain used to launch himself into leadership position as the number one golfer in the section.
Nehikhare said arrangements had been made for a smooth tournament by the Local Organising Committee for the competition, adding that the tournament is of great important to golfers in the country.
He said prizes and trophies would be presented to those who distinguished themselves at the event.
Nehikhare said, “There are prizes for all the categories in both men and Ladies’ events. We have men and ladies, veteran, super veteran’s categories. Golfers from Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba; UBTH Golf Club, Benin; Shell Golf Club, Ogunnu, Warri; Port Harcourt Golf Club; Air Assault Golf Club, Port Harcourt, and many others are expected at the tournament. So it is going to be exciting and competitive all through the day on Easter Sunday.”
